Bloomberg Business Week teamed up with the Paladin Registry to screen more than 1,000 independent financial advisers. The advisors were scored on a 100-point system. Advisors receive the maximum number of points for 15 years of experience as well as for holding two major certifications, such as Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner. To be included in the registry, advisors need to be independent and fees must be the primary form of compensation. Our Chief Investment Officer, Dave Wilder, was part of the top 50 advisors. Dave did not pay to be considered for this award.
The Paladin Registry is a referral service that vets, rates and documents financial advisors using a proprietary algorithm using the quality of an advisors credentials, ethics, business practices, and services. Only financial advisors who meet the criteria of a 5-Star quality rating are permitted to remain on the registry. Paladin’s 5-Star quality rating is not an endorsement or testimonial. Dave pays a fixed monthly fee to be included on the list, but does not pay for prospective leads or referrals. Click here to research further how the registry works.
For pure entertainment, the Cincinnati Business Courier hosts an annual stock picking contest. The rules are pretty simple. You must pick up to five stocks, at least one of which must be locally headquartered in Cincinnati area. Dayton doesn’t count, nor do companies like GE that have a large local presence but are based elsewhere. Each position must be in increments of 20% of the portfolio. The goal is to generate the highest total return, including dividends, between Jan. 1, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2016. The entire Courier article can be viewed here.
